Jackson's Place

3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
335 W. 7th St.
San Pedro, CA  90731
Reservations: (424) 477-5220

Join us for their Sunday afternoon "jazz" at this Cajun restaurant/craft beer & wine bar in the heart of the artsy Downtown section of San Pedro. Cute is the operative word to describe this neighborhood. And delicious is the operative word to describe Jackson's Southern food, rooted in the traditions of the owner's family: generations, New Orleans-born and bred.

Of course, if you know our music, you know we're anything but traditional jazz. We mix it up: everything from vintage Tin Pan Alley to '20s and '30s blues to early R&B and rock 'n' roll. So dine on a catfish po'boy or a Bayou burger with a side of Creole potato salad, or a Muffaletta sandwich, and a bowl of gumbo or jambalaya, while downing a Goose Island Pilsner or Raymond Red Blend, and listening to some jammin' Jam do songs like "Basin Street Blues" and "Bye Bye Blackbird."

Kulak's Woodshed

8:00 pm to 10:00 pm
5230 Laurel Canyon Blvd.
North Hollywood, CA  91607

Our band has undergone a number of changes in personnel and repertoire in the last year, and we're seeking new video footage to update our website and we're gonna debut our new six-piece band. Plus, Roscoe's Rascals will be doing some swing dancing, West Coasting, East Coasting, Lindy Hopping and Two-Stepping for your viewing pleasure.

We need a cheering audience and who couldn't use a terrific night of entertainment? You won't be disappointed.

PART ONE of the program will bring you plenty of period music from the Golden Age of Tin Pan Alley... including Samantha's fabulous dance steps.
PART TWO is designed to knock your socks off with our explosive new sound based on rhythm & blues and a generous helping of original tunes that will stay with you for a long time. As described recently, this is The Music of Yesterday and Tomorrow!

The musicianship promises to be off-the-charts good. Players include BOB GOTHAR--one of the most in-demand live guitarists/bassists in Southern California, he's backed everyone from Rosanne Cash to Roger McGuinn; JERRY STRULL--a high school chum and early influence on Gothar's playing, he's recently toured with "Just Imagine," the popular theater piece about Lennon's career;  LYNN COULTER--one of the most in-demand drummer/percussionists around, he's played for years in Rita Coolidge's band and recorded or played with the likes of Paul Butterfield, Leon Russell, Carole King and The Shirelles; and STEVE SADD, whose sax playing has added a whole new level to our band in recent months.  He can play delicately on such tunes as "Blue Skies" and then channel his inner Sam Butera on tunes like Little Richard's "Rip It Up" or "Shake, Rattle & Roll."

Kulak's Woodshed is a charming, intimate venue--legendary in Southern California for its quirky decor and unique seating options, such as old movie theatre seats, couches, and even a canopied bed.

Malo's popularity is well-deserved. Its signature dishes include: made-to-order "chuey" chips, Mexican prepared corn, Ensenada bacon-wrapped shrimp and braised chicken hard-shell tacos. The meatless dishes are equally fascinating and dreamily delicious: A vegan menudo, a kale enchilada with white chocolate mole and jack cheese, sugar pumpkin flower soft tacos. What's a sugar pumpkin flower? Beats me, but I'm sure gonna find out...

PART TWO is designed to knock your socks off with our explosive new sound based on rhythm & blues and a generous helping of original tunes that will stay with you for a long time. As described recently, this is The Music of Yesterday and Tomorrow!

The musicianship promises to be off-the-charts good. Players include BOB GOTHAR--one of the most in-demand live guitarists/bassists in Southern California, he's backed everyone from Rosanne Cash to Roger McGuinn; JERRY STRULL--a high school chum and early influence on Gothar's playing, he's recently toured with "Just Imagine," the popular theater piece about Lennon's career; and LYNN COULTER--one of the most in-demand drummer/percussionists around, he's played for years in Rita Coolidge's band and recorded or played with the likes of Paul Butterfield, Leon Russell, Carole King and The Shirelles.

Kulak's Woodshed is a charming, intimate venue--legendary in Southern California for its quirky decor and unique seating options, such as old movie theatre seats, couches, and even a canopied bed.

Ticket prices are: $15 single / $20 per pair. Times are tough--if you really want to attend, but price is an issue, please message this site.
